Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) was recently accepted as a member of the Babson Collaborative for Entrepreneurship Education. This is part of the university’s efforts to expand its entrepreneurship education capabilities and capacity.
Babson College is the global leader in entrepreneurship education, ranked for having the number one undergraduate school and MBA for entrepreneurship 26 and 29 times in a row. UBD School of Business and Economics (UBD SBE) will serve as the focal faculty for this collaboration.
As a member, UBD will be provided with leading entrepreneurship education tools and resources to help advance teaching methods, research, and consultancy capabilities.
Enabling inclusion into a rich entrepreneurship ecosystem, membership links the faculty with other institutions of higher education, business and engineering schools, liberal arts schools and community colleges from around the world.
The Babson Collaborative has 35 members from 22 countries.
Members are given access to an online platform for member engagement; an academic content library, webinars, member directory, newsletters; and a platform to share research interests, access resources, and propose joint research projects.
The Collaborative Research Group advances research on the topics that matter most to members, including entrepreneurial ecosystems, open innovation, and social entrepreneurship.
These efforts are in line with the national agenda in education where entrepreneurship and innovation are one of the important focal pillars towards students growth.
Other benefits include participation in the Babson Collaborative Annual Global Summit which brings together entrepreneurship educators from around the world to share best practices in pedagogy and advance thought leadership.
In the annual Global Student Challenge, students from member institutions compete in a feasibility analysis of a new business concept that addresses one of the core UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through quality education (SDG 4).
UBD has placed an emphasis on the entrepreneurial journey since the establishment of Entrepreneurship Village (EV) in 2013, a platform that spearheads the Ministry of Education’s entrepreneurship education initiatives through its National Entrepreneurship Agenda (NEA).
The university has observed Babson’s ecosystem through the lens of Symposium for Entrepreneurship Educators (SEE) in June 2013 and since then began experimenting and piloting methodologies and pedagogies while producing validated impact and success stories through its pay-it-forward initiatives.
Babson Collaborative is a global entrepreneurship education membership organisation that connects universities around the world, building and expanding their entrepreneurship ecosystems.
It has been ranked number one in Entrepreneurship Education for over 25 consecutive years in advancing entrepreneurship education and Entrepreneurial Thought and Action worldwide.
